Stuttgart - German technology group Robert Bosch has opened a new automotive chip and sensor test center in Malaysia with an initial investment of 65 million euros ($71.62 million) and plans to invest a further 285 million euros by the middle of the next decade, the company announced on Tuesday.
The Penang test center will complement Bosch's existing automotive chip testing facilities in Reutlingen and Suzhou, Germany and Hungary. Up to 400 new jobs will be created at the Malaysian center by the mid-2030s, according to Bosch.
Bosch currently final tests most of its automotive semiconductors from these existing locations. The Penang facility will join the network with funding support from the Malaysian government.
