On Thursday morning, Bloomberg reported - citing some of its informed sources - that the Bank of Japan is expected to raise interest rates at the upcoming monetary policy meeting scheduled for next week.
Bloomberg mentioned that its sources indicated that officials at the Bank of Japan see a good opportunity to raise interest rates next week, due to the noticeable improvement in economic data.
The agency's report added that the Bank of Japan may raise interest rates during its meeting on January 23 and 24, which will be just days after the inauguration of the newly elected U.S. President Donald Trump.
One of Bloomberg's sources indicated that the decision to increase interest rates to above 0.25% could come if there are no sharp fluctuations or strong defeats hitting the markets following Trump's assumption of office.
