Bitcoin price today: climbs above $108k as US-China trade talks get underway

 Bitcoin rose Monday, despite investors staying cautious ahead of high-stakes U.S.-China trade talks later in the day and a closely watched U.S. inflation report due later this week.

The world’s largest cryptocurrency is up around 2.5% at $108,961.7 as of 5:09 p.m. ET (21:09 GMT).

The token has remained range-bound in recent sessions, with traders avoiding large positions amid uncertainty over global economic policy. 

US-China talks begin on positive note, US CPI loom Monday’s talks in London between U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, and China’s Vice Premier He Lifeng ended on a positive note. 

U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said that talks that meeting with China on Monday in London was fruitful. The comments were echoed by  U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, who said the U.S. had a good meeting. 

Trade talks are set to continue on Tuesday. 

The London meeting marks the first formal negotiation between the two sides since last month’s tentative agreement in Geneva.

A constructive outcome from the talks could signal improved geopolitical stability and bolster appetite for alternative assets.

On the economic front, markets are also bracing for a closely watched U.S. consumer price index report due later this week, which could provide clues on the Federal Reserve’s rate path. 

Gemini joins crypto IPO rush with confidential US filing Crypto exchange Gemini has confidentially filed for a U.S. initial public offering, according to a regulatory filing over the weekend, signaling growing investor appetite in digital assets.

The Winklevoss twins’ Gemini submitted a draft registration with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission under confidential rules, allowing the company to lock in its offering before publicly unveiling financials. The filing did not specify the number of shares or the price range for the IPO.

Gemini’s move follows a wave of crypto firms going public, including Circle Internet Group Inc (NYSE:CRCL) amid the current market backdrop, marked by rising institutional interest, stabilizing regulations, and recent spot Bitcoin ETF approvals

Crypto price today: most altcoins muted amid cautious mood Altcoins were mixed. World no.2 crypto Ethereum rose 3.4% to $2,620.16.

World no. 3 crypto XRP gained 1.8% to $2.31.

Solana is up over 2%, while Cardano added 2.5%. 

Among meme tokens, Dogecoin cut earlier losses trade 2.7% higher, while $TRUMP added 2.2%.
