The Egyptian stock exchange ended the first session of the trading week with gains for most of its major indexes, driven by Arab purchases amid trading volumes exceeding EGP 1.6 billion.
The EGX 30 index increased 0.36% to close at 18,033 points. Meanwhile, the EGX 30 Total Return index rose 0.29% to close at 7,548 points.
The small and mid-cap EGX 70 Equal Weighted Index added 0.35% to close at 3,641 points, while the EGX 100 Equal Weighted Index gained 0.3% to end at 5,369 points.
However, market capitalization on the exchange shed EGP 3 billion to close at EGP 1.221 trillion.
Overall, Arab investor demand pushed most of Egypt's benchmark stock market gauges higher in the bourse's first weekly trading session. Nevertheless, trading activity was subdued compared to recent sessions.
