Al-Sisi Renews Appointment of Hassan Abdullah as Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt for an additional year

President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi issued a republican decision to renew the appointment of Hassan Abdallah as governor of the Central Bank of Egypt for an additional year beginning on August 18, 2023 and expiring on August 17, 2024.

Sisi had appointed Hassan Abdullah in August 2022 to succeed Tariq Amer, who held the post for 8 years, and is the bank's sixteenth governor since its founding in 1960.

During his tenure, Abdullah issued a number of decisions to regulate the functioning of banks and support the economy, such as establishing digital banks and accelerating the introduction of technology in financial transactions.

His reappointment is for an additional period to continue work on the implementation of monetary and fiscal policies to support the stability of Egypt's economy.
