OpenAI has hired Ruomin Pang– an AI researcher at Meta Platforms (NASDAQ:META) who formerly led Apple Inc’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) AI models team, The Information reported on Wednesday.
Pang had joined Meta about seven months ago, after leading the Apple Foundation Model team and being in the company for at least four years, their LinkedIn profile showed. Investing.com could not immediately verify their joining of OpenAI.

AI talent has been a major focus point for the industry in the past year, with frontier companies such as OpenAI and Anthropic, along with big tech such as Meta racing to snap up, or even poach high-profile researchers.
Meta in particular was seen offering researchers hundreds of millions of dollars to join the company’s AI efforts, and was also seen poaching talent from OpenAI.
