RBC Global Asset Management has appointed Ivan Pelipenko as Senior Trader, adding more than two decades of investment and trading experience to its Toronto-based team.
In his new position, Pelipenko will cover global fixed income and currencies, placing him within a key part of the asset manager’s institutional trading operations.
Pelipenko joins RBC GAM following more than 18 years at Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan, where he built an extensive career across emerging markets, fixed income, currencies and global trading. He initially joined the pension fund in 2007 as a principal focused on emerging markets fixed income and currencies.
He later progressed to Director, Global Trading, Total Fund Management, a position he held for approximately eight years. His broader experience spans portfolio management and trading strategies across institutional markets.
Pelipenko has also served as a member of the Canadian Foreign Exchange Committee (CFEC), an industry forum that facilitates communication between FX market participants and the Bank of Canada while reviewing foreign-exchange market practices and procedures.
RBC Global Asset Management is the asset-management division of Royal Bank of Canada and provides investment management services to institutional, high-net-worth and individual clients. Its LinkedIn company profile states that the group manages approximately $560 billion in assets globally.
The appointment strengthens RBC GAM’s trading expertise across fixed income and foreign exchange as Pelipenko moves from one of Canada’s largest pension investors into the global asset-management business.
