Sudden drop in U. S. oil inventories by 1. 4 million barrels

Oil inventories in the United States fell against expectations over the past week, and gasoline inventories fell in the same period. 

Data from the US Energy Information Administration revealed that crude inventories fell by 1. 4 million barrels in the week ending September 30, which came against expectations that were pointing to the rise of 1. 7 million barrels. 

U. S. gasoline inventories fell 4. 7 million barrels, and distillate inventories fell 3. 4 million barrels.
