JPMorgan has appointed former Temenos Chief Technology Officer Rohit Chauhan as Managing Director and Head of Consumer Payments Platform Technology, bringing the experienced banking technology executive back to the US financial institution as it continues developing its digital payment infrastructure.
Chauhan confirmed his return to JPMorgan through a LinkedIn announcement on October 6, 2026. Based in New York City, he will oversee the technology supporting the bank's consumer-facing payment systems, marking his return to the institution after previously holding senior technology leadership positions.
The appointment follows Chauhan's tenure at Swiss banking software provider Temenos, where he served as Chief Technology Officer. During his time at the company, he was responsible for overseeing engineering activities and software research and development supporting its core banking technology platform.
Chauhan brings extensive experience in financial services technology, having held leadership positions at several major institutions throughout his career. He began his banking technology career at Morgan Stanley, where he spent approximately nine years and progressed to lead the clearing technology group responsible for exchange-traded derivatives.
He subsequently joined JPMorgan in December 2012, initially serving as Executive Director before advancing to Global Head of Digital Channels Technology. In that position, he gained significant experience overseeing technology systems supporting the bank's digital financial services and customer-facing platforms.
In May 2025, Chauhan left JPMorgan to join Temenos as Chief Technology Officer, reporting to the company's then Chief Product and Technology Officer, Barb Morgan. His responsibilities included managing engineering teams, overseeing software development, and supporting the delivery of the company's banking technology solutions.
His departure from Temenos followed a restructuring of the company's senior management team in July 2026. The changes, introduced under CEO Takis Spiliopoulos, involved a reorganization of product and technology leadership functions.
As part of that restructuring, Temenos appointed Tony Coleman as Chief Technology Officer and Cormac Flanagan as Chief Product Officer, bringing established banking technology executives into its revised leadership structure.
Chauhan's return to JPMorgan places him in a senior position within the bank's consumer payments technology operations. Although the full scope of his new responsibilities has not been publicly disclosed, his role involves overseeing the technology infrastructure supporting consumer payment services.
JPMorgan's consumer payments ecosystem includes a range of digital and physical payment solutions, including Chase point-of-sale technology, the Helix acquiring platform, and Tap to Pay on iPhone capabilities.
The appointment comes as major financial institutions continue investing in modern payment infrastructure, digital banking capabilities, and technology platforms designed to support changing consumer expectations and increasingly complex financial transactions.
Banks are placing greater emphasis on developing reliable, scalable, and secure payment systems as digital commerce expands and customers demand faster and more accessible financial services.
Chauhan's previous experience at JPMorgan, combined with his recent leadership role at Temenos, provides a background spanning both large-scale banking operations and enterprise financial software development.
For JPMorgan, his return adds experienced technology leadership to its consumer payments division as the institution continues managing and developing the platforms that support its financial services.
The appointment also reflects the importance of experienced technology executives in the banking industry, where payment modernization, digital infrastructure, and operational efficiency remain central to long-term business development.
