SAP-Backed Tereina Launches Embedded Payment Service for Businesses

SAP-backed payments company Tereina has launched a new service that allows businesses to make payments directly from SAP’s enterprise software, bringing traditional payment methods and stablecoin settlement into existing corporate workflows.

The technology is available to SAP customers through SAP Pay, integrated with SAP Cloud ERP. Businesses can use the service to send payments to suppliers, employees and other recipients without moving between separate banking and enterprise systems.

Tereina supports established payment methods including ACH transfers, wire payments and checks, while also enabling settlement using the USDC stablecoin. The system is designed to handle payment execution and reconciliation within the same SAP environment, reducing the number of external processes typically involved in corporate payments.

According to the companies, the service currently supports payments across 89 global corridors, giving businesses an additional option for managing domestic and cross-border transactions through their existing enterprise infrastructure.

Tereina operates by connecting companies with established payment providers rather than replacing banks and payment networks. This approach allows the platform to bring multiple payment methods into a unified workflow while using existing financial infrastructure to execute transactions.

The company also represents an example of how artificial intelligence is being incorporated into financial technology development. Tereina CEO Cedric Bru said AI coding tools played a significant role in building the platform, which was developed over roughly two and a half years, with much of the work taking place during the past 18 months.

For SAP, integrating payment capabilities more deeply into its business software extends the role of its enterprise platforms beyond accounting and financial management. Companies can initiate transactions, track their status and reconcile payments within systems already used for managing their operations.

The launch also reflects growing interest in embedding financial services directly into enterprise software, particularly as businesses seek faster cross-border settlement, greater automation and more streamlined treasury and payment processes.
