TD Bank Group in Canada is executing a major executive restructuring that has unified core commercial strategies, global technology infrastructure, and AI initiatives under a smaller group of senior leaders.
The move is spearheaded by the promotion of Vlad Shpilsky to group head of global technology and solutions (GTS). Vlad now takes ownership of the bank's digital platforms, AI strategy, data management, fraud operations, and cyber resilience initiatives.
Vlad joined TD in October 2024 as chief information officer for the bank's US operations. He previously spent 13 years at Bank of America, most recently as global banking CIO, following a decade at Credit Suisse, where he worked across the equity derivatives and electronic trading departments.
He is joined on the senior executive team by Renu Gupta, who TD has appointed as senior executive vice president and chief strategy and commercial officer. TD states that this role brings together enterprise strategy, corporate development, digital assets, payments, partnerships, and procurement.

Gupta joined the bank six years ago following 19 years at Goldman Sachs, and has served as EVP of corporate development and chief financial officer of TD Securities since December 2024. Here, she worked on financial strategy, business planning, and M&A specifically.
The final addition to the senior executive team is Paul Whitehead. The senior executive vice president moves from global head of client and colleague experience and marketing, to global head of client experience and enterprise transformation (global corporate services).
Alongside his existing work managing global client experience, marketing, and real estate, Whitehead is adding oversight for enterprise AI and global corporate affairs. TD states that bringing these functions together through Whitehead will "further strengthen alignment and accelerate execution across the bank".
Whitehead is a career banker who has worked at TD since 1988, and has led businesses and corporate functions across retail and private banking in North America and Europe.
