IG Group has promoted Andrew Biggs to Chief Executive Officer of IG Securities, expanding his responsibilities across Core Technology, Group Trading and the company’s institutional division, IG Prime.
The promotion comes only a few months after Biggs joined IG Group in April 2026 as Trading Director, where he was given responsibility for IG Prime and trading activities across the wider Group.
In announcing his new role, Biggs said he was particularly enthusiastic about bringing IG’s technology and trading capabilities closer together.
He explained that combining the Group’s trading expertise with its technology and data capabilities could help IG move faster and develop stronger products for both IG Prime and IG Consumer clients.
Biggs also highlighted IG’s longstanding focus on innovation in online trading, saying he looks forward to working with teams across the organisation as the company prepares for its next phase of growth.
Expanded Responsibility Across Trading and Technology
As CEO of IG Securities, Biggs will oversee Core Technology, Group Trading and IG Prime, significantly broadening the remit he took on when he first joined the company earlier this year.
The appointment forms part of a wider organisational restructuring at IG Group designed to simplify the company’s operating model, improve efficiency, accelerate product development and strengthen the way its different businesses serve customers.
Under the new structure, IG is combining its UK & Ireland, Europe, and APAC & Middle East commercial divisions into a single IG Consumer business led by Michael Healy. North America will continue to be led by Michael Vaughan, while Biggs will lead IG Securities. IG said the organisational changes are expected to take effect during the second half of 2026.
Biggs brings more than a decade of experience across trading, liquidity, risk management and financial technology.
Before joining IG Group, he spent several years at Finalto and its predecessor CFH Clearing. He joined the business in 2018 and progressed through senior positions including Head of Liquidity and Group Head of Risk and Trading before becoming CEO of Finalto Trading in 2024.
Earlier in his career, Biggs also held positions at firms including iS Prime, now known as iSAM Securities, Sucden Financial and ICM Capital, building experience across institutional liquidity, market making, risk and trading operations.
His background at the intersection of trading and technology aligns closely with IG Group’s current strategy, particularly as the company looks to use its technology, data and trading infrastructure to strengthen products and customer experience.
With Biggs now overseeing technology, trading and IG Prime, his appointment places him at the centre of IG’s efforts to strengthen the connection between its institutional trading expertise and technology infrastructure.
The move also marks a rapid progression for Biggs within IG Group, coming just months after his appointment as Trading Director and reflecting an expanded leadership role as the company builds its next phase of growth.
