Hyundai Motor (KS:005380) is recalling 51,587 vehicles in the United States due to a potential fire hazard related to trailer light wiring, according to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on Wednesday.
The recall stems from a short circuit risk in non-functioning trailer lights caused by incorrect installation of the wiring harness. This defect could increase the risk of fire, the safety regulator stated.
NHTSA advises vehicle owners to park outside and away from structures until the recall repair is completed. Hyundai dealers will replace the trailer wiring harness at no cost to owners.
