Boeing has secured a $198 million contract modification from the U.S. Department of War to extend the service life of F/A-18 Block II Super Hornet fighter jets.
The modification increases the ceiling on a previously awarded cost-plus-fixed-fee, cost-plus-incentive-fee, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract. The work will extend the Super Hornet service life from 6,000 flight hours to 10,000 flight hours and integrate Block III avionics capabilities for the Navy.
The contract work will be performed across three locations: San Diego, California (44.4%), San Antonio, Texas (43.1%), and St. Louis, Missouri (12.5%). The project is expected to be completed by February 2027.
No funds will be obligated at the time of award. Instead, funds will be obligated on individual orders as they are issued. The contract action was not competitively bid, according to the Naval Air Systems Command in Patuxent River, Maryland, which is serving as the contracting activity.
The contract number for this modification is N0001918D0001 (P00055).
