Turkish annual consumer price inflation fell to 42.12% in January, official data showed on Monday, with education, health, housing and restaurant prices leading the rise in the index.
Month-on-month, inflation was 5.03%, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute, compared with 1.03% in December. Annual consumer price inflation (CPI) was 44.38% in December.
In a Reuters poll, the annual inflation rate was expected to fall to 41.25%, while the monthly figure was seen at 4.25%, driven by an annual hike in the minimum wage and various new year price adjustments.
The domestic producer price index was up 3.06% month-on-month in January for an annual rise of 27.20%, the Turkish Statistical Institute data showed.
