Tamweely" Obtains ISO 27001 Certification for Information Security

Cairo-based microfinance company Tamweely has obtained the ISO 27001 certification for information security standards. This recognizes the company's successful implementation and fulfillment of requirements under the international standard for ensuring data confidentiality and security.

The ISO 27001 framework provides a systematic methodology for best practices globally, helping to protect data and information from cyber threats while ensuring its confidentiality and integrity. This enhances Tamweely's protection of information security, privacy, and the personal data of its clients.

Ahmed Khorshid, Tamweely's CEO and Managing Director, said obtaining this certification crowns the company's efforts to adopt an integrated strategy for financial technology. He noted Tamweely has followed a multi-year roadmap focused on expanding the use of fintech across its operations. This has provided competitive advantages in the market and the ability to rapidly scale up business volumes.

Khorshid added the certification will allow Tamweely to introduce more advanced technological systems going forward, as data security and privacy are key prerequisites for increased reliance on technology. This further strengthens the company's competitiveness in Egypt's microfinance sector and growing its market share.

Tamweely CIO Mohsen Amin affirmed that ISO 27001 provides an effective framework for organizations seeking secure and private information asset management. The standard helps continuously improve processes to address current and future challenges. Tamweely is committed to applying a comprehensive information security framework supported by senior leadership.
