Emirati Womens Day 2022: History, Significance and Theme

Emirati Women's Day is celebrated annually on 28th August in the United Arab Emirates. And this event also covers the same thing as of the International Women's Day which falls on 8th March but this is more UAE specific.

The Emirati Women's Day isn't also that old as it was founded in 2015 only by Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak who is also knows as the Mother of the Nation in the United Arab Emirates.

This is the day which honors all of the achievements of the Emirati women's since the last 50 years and also supports their ambitions for the future

The Emirati Women's Day was founded in 2015 by Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak who is member of the Royal family of Mubarak in the United Arab Emirates.

And this date was chosen as this day commemorates the formation of the General Women's Union of the United Arab Emirates in 1975. And Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak had a huge role to play in it she is also the chairperson of the General Women's Union and also acts as the President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood.

She had been a supporter for women's rights from a long time. As during the late 1990s also she publicly stated that women should be allowed to serve on the Federal National Council of the Emirates.

And in recent times also we have seen that UAE had made a lot of progress in giving freedom and equality to the women which they were earlier banished from so this day also celebrates the achievements of the authorities towards women empowerment. Emirati Womens Day Significance:

This event like many other women's day around the world aims to empower women in meeting their rights and fulfilling their demands so that they can be treated fairly and equally in the society.

Sheikha Fatima is also a supporter of adult literacy initiatives and the provision of free public education for girls. She has always been a strong supporter of female athletes. So this day also works as an awareness day for all people in achieving these goals.

For achieving these targets only Sheikha Fatima unveiled a National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security on March 30, 2021, the first of it's kind in the Gulf Cooperation Council(G.C.C.) in order to support the UN Security Council resolution which aims to empower and encourage women around the world.

For her efforts only she was honoured in 2017 by UN Women an international humanitarian organization for promoting female equality and taking forward women empowerment.
