El-Sisi Renews Walid Gamal El-Din as President of the General Authority for Suez Canal Economic Zone

President Abdelfattah El-Sisi, the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, has issued Presidential Decree No. 335 for the year 2023, renewing the appointment of Walid Gamal El-Din as the President of the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone for a period of one year, starting from August 12, 2023.

Walid Gamal El-Din had previously served as the Executive Director of the Suez Canal Economic Zone since January 2020, and later was appointed as the Deputy Chairman for Investment and Promotion Affairs by a Presidential Decree in May 2022. On August 12th of the previous year, President El-Sisi issued a decree appointing him as the Chairman of the Authority.

The General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone aims, during the current period, to implement its strategic plan for the years 2020-2025, with the goal of localizing targeted industries to enhance the Authority's global competitiveness and meet the needs of regional markets. Significant efforts have been made in the green energy sector, aiming to localize this vital industry within the economic zone in the upcoming phase.

This renewal of Walid Gamal El-Din's appointment underscores the high level of trust he enjoys in leading and developing the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone, and strengthens the ongoing efforts to enhance economic growth and infrastructure development in the region.
