Qatar Energy said it had signed an agreement with Shell to acquire a 40% stake in the exploratory offshore C10 located off Mauritania's Atlantic shores.
Qatar Company explained that Shell "Operator" will retain a share of 50%, and Mauritania Combustion Company 10%.
The exploration area is approximately 11,500 square kilometres and is approximately 50 kilometres from Mauritania's coasts in waters as deep as 2,000 metres.
