China's Foreign Exchange Market Records $2.1 Trillion Trade in January

Data from the National Foreign Exchange Authority showed that China's foreign exchange market over the past January recorded trade of 14.29 trillion yuan, about $2.1 trillion, down from 16 trillion yuan in December.

According to the data, the total foreign exchange transactions between banks and their customers amounted to 2.6 trillion yuan and the total foreign exchange trading between banks amounted to 11.7 trillion yuan.

In terms of products, the cumulative trading volume of the spot market was RMB5.7 trillion versus RMB8.6 trillion from the derivatives market.

The report stated that social logistics increased by 3.4% year-on-year to 347.6 trillion yuan, or $50.4 trillion, over the past year.
