XTB Launches Investment Accounts for Teenagers in Romania

Online investment platform XTB has introduced a new investment account service for teenagers aged 14 to 17 in Romania, marking an expansion of its retail investment offering and a move toward encouraging financial education among younger generations.

The service, known as XTB Young, allows teenagers to invest in stocks, fractional shares and exchange-traded funds (ETFs) under parental supervision. Romania is the first market where the Polish brokerage has launched the product.

Under the account structure, teenagers can independently open and close investment positions, while parents or legal guardians retain control over deposits, withdrawals and fund transfers. Parents can also monitor transactions in real time, receive notifications and close positions when necessary.

Annual deposits are limited to 15,000 Romanian lei per account, equivalent to approximately $3,160. The platform excludes leveraged products and contracts for difference (CFDs), reducing exposure to some of the higher-risk instruments commonly available through online trading platforms.

XTB Young also provides access to ETF-based Investment Plans, educational resources and digital support tools designed to help younger investors develop financial knowledge and understand long-term investing.

The launch reflects growing interest in investment services aimed at younger customers. According to XTB, clients aged 18 to 24 represented 17.4% of its active customer base during the first half of 2026, highlighting the importance of younger generations to the company's growth strategy.

With the introduction of supervised investment accounts, XTB joins a growing number of financial platforms developing products that combine digital investment accessibility with parental oversight and financial education.
