Cboe and NYSE Expand Trading Hours for Major Stock and ETF Options

Cboe Global Markets and the New York Stock Exchange have introduced extended trading hours for selected stock and exchange-traded fund options, providing investors with additional opportunities to manage positions outside regular U.S. market sessions.

The expanded schedule, which began on October 19, allows eligible options to trade between 7:30 a.m. and 9:25 a.m. Eastern Time, alongside an additional afternoon session from 4:00 p.m. to 4:15 p.m.

Cboe's initial rollout covers options on 24 individual stocks and five exchange-traded funds, including securities associated with major U.S. companies such as Apple, Nvidia, Tesla and Amazon. The selected ETFs include widely traded investment products tracking major equity indices and other asset classes.

NYSE American has introduced similar extended sessions for selected options contracts, reflecting growing demand among investors for greater flexibility in accessing U.S. financial markets.

The initiative aims to help market participants respond more efficiently to economic announcements, corporate earnings and global developments that occur outside traditional trading hours.

According to Cboe, options on eligible securities accounted for approximately 53% of average daily U.S.-listed options trading volume during the first nine months of 2026, highlighting the importance of the selected contracts.

Trading during the extended sessions is limited to eligible instruments and permitted order types, with participation and liquidity conditions potentially differing from those available during regular market hours.

The expansion represents another development in U.S. financial market infrastructure as major exchanges respond to demand for broader trading access and more flexible risk management tools.
