CaixaBank has expanded its strategic partnership with Google Cloud until 2033, strengthening its investment in artificial intelligence, data management and cloud infrastructure as the Spanish banking group advances its digital transformation strategy.
Announced on October 9, 2026, the extended agreement builds on a collaboration established in 2023 and aims to improve operational efficiency, enhance employee decision-making and support more personalized banking services for customers.
A central component of the partnership is the deployment of Gemini Enterprise, Google Cloud's AI platform for developing and managing intelligent agents. The technology will help CaixaBank employees analyze complex financial information, automate repetitive tasks, streamline document management and accelerate internal workflows.
The expanded collaboration also includes advanced data analytics, hybrid cloud infrastructure and cybersecurity enhancements. CaixaBank plans to combine its private technology environment with Google Cloud's infrastructure to strengthen system resilience, improve scalability and introduce additional threat detection and security monitoring capabilities.
Employee training will form another major part of the initiative, with specialized programs and professional services designed to support the adoption of AI-powered tools across the organization. Implementation will follow the bank's existing security, privacy and responsible AI governance frameworks.
With more than 13 million digital customers, CaixaBank continues to prioritize technological innovation as a key driver of its business strategy. The expanded partnership reflects the banking industry's increasing focus on integrating generative AI into everyday operations while maintaining strong data protection and regulatory standards.
