In contemporary interior design, luxury is increasingly being redefined. It is no longer measured only by expensive finishes, statement furniture or visual impact. The more enduring question is whether a space understands the people who live in it.
An Egyptian-Canadian interior designer, entrepreneur and Co-Founder of WS Design House, Abdellatif has built a career that brings together design, education, entrepreneurship and media. Her professional journey has been shaped by academic study, international exposure and a strong belief that good design should be both beautiful and functional.
She holds two bachelor’s degrees, in addition to a master’s degree and a PhD, reflecting a long-standing commitment to learning and professional development.
Over the years, her international experience has influenced the way she approaches interiors. Rather than focusing on aesthetics alone, Abdellatif looks at how people live, how they move through a space and how design can improve everyday experience.
Through WS Design House, she is working toward building an international design firm capable of serving clients across different markets while maintaining a clear design philosophy centered on individuality, function and meaningful living.
Abdellatif has a strong interest in mentoring younger designers and sharing the knowledge and international perspective she has gained throughout her academic and professional journey. She sees knowledge-sharing as an important part of developing the next generation and strengthening the profession as a whole.
More recently, she has moved into television presenting, using media as a platform to make interior design more accessible to a wider audience. Through this role, she aims to provide practical and useful content that helps people better understand how design decisions can improve homes and daily life.
Today, Abdellatif’s career combines several roles — designer, entrepreneur, mentor and media presenter — but they are connected by one consistent idea: design should create value beyond appearance.
For her, a successful space is one that reflects the people who use it, supports the way they live and creates a sense of meaning as well as beauty.
As she continues developing WS Design House and expanding her work across education and media, her broader ambition remains clear: to build a design practice with international reach while continuing to share knowledge, inspire younger professionals and make thoughtful design more relevant to everyday life.
For Dr. Wessam Abdellatif, interior design is ultimately not just about creating beautiful spaces. It is about creating spaces that work, connect and improve the way people live.
