Pepperstone has appointed Andrew Turnbull as Head of Africa, strengthening the global forex and CFD broker’s leadership team as it looks to expand its presence across the continent.
Based in Nairobi, Kenya, Turnbull will lead Pepperstone’s strategy across African markets, focusing on regional growth, partnerships and the development of the broker’s local presence as demand for online and mobile trading continues to increase.
Turnbull brings more than two decades of experience across financial services, institutional foreign exchange and business development.
Earlier in his career, he held senior positions at ODL Securities and FXCM Europe, where his responsibilities included institutional sales and partnerships. Before joining Pepperstone, he was also a Director and Co-Founder of Wellesley Group Investors, an alternative property investment and peer-to-peer lending business.
His return to the forex and CFD sector places an experienced industry executive at the center of Pepperstone’s African growth plans.
The appointment comes as Pepperstone increases its focus on Africa, where trading markets are developing at different speeds and regulators are introducing stronger frameworks for the online forex and CFD industry.
Kenya is expected to remain an important market for the broker. Pepperstone Markets Kenya Limited is regulated by the country’s Capital Markets Authority under licence number 128, and Kenya was among the earlier African jurisdictions to establish a dedicated regulatory framework for online forex trading.
As Head of Africa, Turnbull will work with Pepperstone’s teams and partners to better understand the needs of trading communities across individual markets.
Turnbull said there is growing demand for online trading across Africa, while emphasizing that the continent cannot be treated as a single market because individual countries have different trading environments and customer requirements.
Pepperstone operates globally as a forex and CFD broker, providing access to markets including foreign exchange, indices, commodities, shares, ETFs and digital assets.
The appointment of Turnbull as Head of Africa represents the latest step in Pepperstone’s strategy to strengthen its regional leadership and build a larger presence across Africa’s developing online trading sector.
