Tesla new car registrations in Italy jumped 85% year-on-year in December, though the electric vehicle maker recorded an overall 18% drop for the full year 2025, according to data released Friday by the Italian transport ministry.
The U.S. company sold 2,519 cars in Italy last month, capturing a market share of 2.3%.
For the full year 2025, Tesla’s new car registrations in Italy totaled 12,847 units, representing a market share of 0.8%. This marked a decline from 15,650 registrations in 2024.
Meanwhile, Chinese competitor BYD, which sells both electric and hybrid vehicles in Italy, registered 23,621 cars in the country during 2025, outpacing Tesla’s annual figures.
